Volunteers Band Together to Help Local Residents Save Energy

BENNINGTON, VT – As the cool fall weather arrives, many households and businesses will face drafty windows and rising heating bills. However, a local volunteer team is helping residents keep warm and save energy through a WindowDressers Community Build.

The Bennington-Southshire Community Build is set to take place from October 16th — 22nd. Over the course of a week, volunteers will gather together and help assemble pre-ordered inserts for local residents and businesses. The inserts have attractive pine frames that are wrapped drum-tight with two layers of durable plastic film. These layers create an insulating air space while letting in all the light and views. Foam weather stripping around the outer edges stops drafts and ensures the insert’s tight, custom fit. Depending on the efficiency of your windows and home, you could see fuel savings of up to 20% with inserts in place.

The Bennington-Southshire Community Build is one of approximately 50 events run by WindowDressers. Since 2010, WindowDressers has built almost 80,000 inserts at Community Build events across Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire. “I had a wonderful time at the WindowDressers Build. I wanted to let you know that the inserts for my windows are fabulous. They fit perfectly and make the windows look pretty,” said Annemarie S., a WindowDressers customer and volunteer. “The difference in the warmth is amazing. I cannot feel any draft coming through these inserts. As an added bonus, it is more quiet inside my house! I am so happy with these inserts. I wish I knew of this program years ago! Thank you again. “
