MANCHESTER — The driver of a white delivery truck which crashed into a passenger car on May 11 on Route 11/30 on the outskirts of Manchester has been identified.

The Manchester Police Department released a statement on Wednesday, May 31, stating that Gedeon Brezil, Jr., of Randolph, Mass., has been identified as the driver of a white box refrigerator truck which collided with a passenger car that had three occupants inside it at the time, as both vehicles were heading west into town near where the railroad tracks intersect with Route 11/30, or Depot Street.

The passenger car was hit from the rear and forced off the road, coming to a rest on its roof on the railroad tracks. The three occupants of the vehicle were rushed to the Southern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington for treatment of injuries. The male operator of the car was later transported to the Albany Medical Center for treatment of injuries described as “severe.”

A video of the collision taken by a nearby security camera at an neighboring business shows the truck continuing on before stopping to make a delivery https://www.facebook.com/186505321365592/videos/1726214154061360/

Later, it was observed on another video, when Brezil Jr. arrived at his delivery point. According to the police department’s statement, “the operator is observed on video exiting the truck and immediately begins to examine the front and passenger areas of the truck.” The driver then appears to make a phone call before making the delivery, the statement said. The place of the delivery is not identified.

The truck belongs to M & M Delivery, and was identified by a Dept. of Transportation number captured on video footage.

An arrest warrant is being sought which charges Brezil with grossly negligent operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident.

M & M Delivery is subject to commercial regulations and under review by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles and the Massachusetts State Police assisted in the investigation of the incident, according to the Manchester Police Department.
