Several volunteer producers and members of the GNAT staff attended the annual ACM-NE video festival in Portland, Maine to accept seven awards.

The ACM-NE represents Public, Education and Government (PEG) access organizations throughout Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, and Vermont. ACM-NE is also a part the national Alliance for Community Media (ACM) that represents over 3,000 PEG organizations throughout the country.

Four GNAT Volunteer Producers won awards: Catherine Stewart for Squirrel’s Dilemma; Steve Dunning for two shows Mono and Dog Bonz; Haley Goodrich for The 802 Experience; and Amy Chamberlain for Life of the Party. GNAT Staff Producer, Ann Hammerle, won for Perspectives: Women & Guns, a GNAT Documentary project. Also earning an award, was School News Update, a collaborative project, produced by the Fisher School News Team, Fisher teacher, Charlie Cummings and GNAT.

GNAT Executive Director, Tammie Reilly states, “Gnat provides equipment, training and a platform for local citizens to learn technical skills and create media for our community. The awards not only celebrate the hard work of the volunteer producers and GNAT staff but also the quality and content of our local productions. It is an honor to be included among the best in the Northeast.”

All of the award winning programs will air Saturdays throughout the month of November starting at 3PM on GNAT’s Comcast Channels 15 & 8. You may also watch these and other local programs online at gnat-tv.org.
