We are seeking a Media Education Manager to join our dynamic team on a full-time basis (the position can be structured for part-time as well). This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual who is passionate about community building, has experience with video production, and enjoys working with people.
Position Overview

Media Education Manager
Compensation: $42,000-$57,000, Full Benefits, and Flexible Schedule
The Media Education Manager plays a key role in supporting GNAT-TV’s mission to connect the community and empower people through local independent media. The Media Education Manager is responsible for ensuring the success of GNAT-TV’s education and training programs, creating educational video content, and developing avenues for community engagement.
General responsibilities include:
- Providing direct technical assistance to community organizations and the public.
- Mentoring students and community members through the creation and production of media for distribution on GNAT-TV’s networks.
- Creating and implementing media training workshops for adults and youth, with a primary focus on youth programming, including youth media camps, youth-focused television productions, and as-needed after-school programs.
- Creating educational media content, producing video content, and supporting the organization’s development and engagement goals.
The position requires a combination of in-person and remote work, with local travel within GNAT-TV’s service area. It is primarily a Monday through Friday position; however, it involves a varied schedule based on community needs. This includes some weekday afternoons and occasional evenings and weekends as needed. The position can be structured for part-time or full-time employment. The Media Education Manager reports to the Executive Director.

General responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Media Education & Youth Development
- Design, develop, and implement media education initiatives to meet community needs.
- Facilitate media education training for community volunteers, youth, and nonprofit community organizations.
- Teach in-person and remote workshops for youth and adults.
- Create and manage youth media-making opportunities, including after-school workshops and summer camps.
- Coordinate GNAT-TV’s high school and college internship and mentorship programs.
- Supervise camp counselors and camp assistants.
- Produce youth-centered television content and stories.
Community Outreach & Engagement
- Work collaboratively with community groups and organizations to facilitate the production of community-based television programming.
- Represent the organization professionally, present information to public entities, donors, and members, and communicate team efforts.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local organizations and community groups to enhance GNAT-TV’s outreach efforts.
- Organize and participate in community events to promote GNAT-TV’s programs and services.
- Advocate for community media and free speech at public forums and events.
- Communicate and work effectively with diverse groups, individuals, ideas, and opinions, with a commitment to diversity and fairness.
General Responsibilities
- Ability to receive feedback and work in a dynamic, changing environment.
- Lift video production equipment regularly.
- Strong commitment to deadlines and deliverables, with the ability to time-manage accordingly and achieve objectives within approved budget allocations.
- Ensure that all activities align with GNAT-TV’s mission and goals.
- Collaborate with team members to support organizational initiatives and projects.
Education and/or Work Experience Desired
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required. Equivalent certification or work experience in television, media, film, communications, education or related field
- Teaching or curriculum / program development experience
- Experience working with diverse constituents, teaching and supervising groups of young people
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Technical Proficiency: Ability to use various computer and media production software and hardware, including Mac and Windows OS, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, social media platforms, and other digital tools and apps. Proficiency in video and audio production systems, including Final Cut Pro X or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Teaching and Training: Ability and desire to learn and teach media skills to a wide variety of individuals and groups, including members of the public, youth, and nonprofit organizations.
- Collaboration and Independence: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
- Communication and Diversity: Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups, individuals, ideas, and opinions. A commitment to diversity and fairness.

Environment / Working Conditions
The environment is oriented to public service and subject to frequent work interruptions. Employees may work with continual public and internal contact while adhering to tight timelines. A mix of in-person and remote work is available.

- Use of personal vehicle for business-related travel in our area as needed.
- Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and minimum auto insurance.
- Pass background check and training as a mandatory reporter to the state of Vermont.
