Race for the Cure set for Saturday

80 SURVIVOR KAREN GILLESPIE BOXBOROUGH MA 2 RAYS GIRLS ALL THREE RUN SMILEMANCHESTER — The 25th annual running of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is set to go on Saturday, July 22. The event will be based at Riley Rink in Hunter Park.

The 10 K run begins at 8:30, followed by the 5K runners and walkers. a kids obstacle course challenge will be held starting at 9:45.

The event, first held in Manchester in 1993, raises funds and awareness about breast cancer, as well as research, as well as supporting survivors and those afflicted with the disease. The majority of funds raised in Vermont stay in Vermont to support local efforts to alleviate the effects of the disease.

It’s not too late to register for one of the events. Registration packets, for those pre-registered, can be picked up Friday afternoon from 3-6 p.m. at Riley Rink, or Saturday morning, the day of the race, from 7 – 8:30 a.m. Those who wish to register can also do so at either time.
