Southern Vermont Astronomy Group – Meg Thatcher, MS: Astronomy for Children

Meg Thatcher writes for youngsters ages five and up for 12 years. She’s written thirty articles for publications such as Ask, Odyssey, Muse, Cricket, Cobbblestone, and Highlights. Ms. Thatcher has also written six books for kids of all ages in the past five years, including Sky Gazing: a guide to the Moon, sun, planets, stars, eclipses, and constellations and Cool, Cosmic Tattoo Stars and Planets. Her other books are for the educational market.
Meg Thatcher teaches astronomy, physics, and writing at Smith College and has been the academic director for Smith’s Summer Series & Engineering Program. She has studied collisional ring galaxies and asymptotic giant branch stars, as well as helping develop the Two Micron All Sky Survey using 1.3 meter telescopes at Mt. Hopkins and CTIO in Chile and three-channel cameras.
