Smokey House Center Hosts 3rd Annual Open House on August 2
Danby, VT–Smokey House Center invites the public to its 3rd Annual Open House on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at its 5,000-acre campus in Danby, Vermont. This free, family-friendly event celebrates summer in the mountains with a full day of hands-on activities, partner showcases, local food, and live music.
Guests of all ages can enjoy blueberry picking, maple taste-testing, project demonstrations, and meet-and-greets with Smokey House Center’s regional partners and staff. This year’s featured performer is Sawyer Fredericks, local musician and winner of The Voice Season 8, whose music deeply connects with themes of land and place.
“Our Annual Open House is one of our favorite days of the year,” said Danielle Zimmerman, Co-Director of Smokey House Center. “It brings our community together to learn about our work in sustainable agriculture, climate adaptation, youth empowerment, and land stewardship—all while enjoying this beautiful valley.”
Attendees can bring a picnic or pre-order a Road Runner Lunch Box for on-site pickup (orders must be placed by Monday, July 28). New this year, the Open House will also coincide with the launch of Smokey House Center’s Summer 2025 Online Auction, offering items like local foods, outdoor gear, and one-of-a-kind experiences in support of the organization’s mission.
Smokey House Center’s Future Foresters Apprenticeship program participants will also be presenting their summer projects during the event, offering an inside look at this new initiative preparing the next generation of land stewards.
