(Manchester Center, VT) On Saturday, July 26th from 2 pm – 3 pm, Northshire Bookstore will host an exciting afternoon with Gaia Cornwall, the author and illustrator of Fairy Walk, and Susie Spikol, the author of Forest Magic for Kids: How to Find Fairies, Make a Secret Fort, and Cook Up an Elfin Picnic.

Join us for an afternoon of forest magic with two remarkable children’s book authors! In addition to readings and signings with the authors, the morning will feature a scavenger hunt and simple craft. Costumes are encouraged!

Gaia Cornwall loves to write and illustrate for children. She is the author-illustrator of Jabari Jumps, which was a Charlotte Zolotow Honor Book and an American Library Association Notable Children’s Book, and its follow-up, Jabari Tries, as well as The Best Bed for Me. She will be reading from her children’s book Fairy Walk.

Set off on a magical nature adventure—and let your imagination soar—on a forest walk with the creator of Jabari Jumps. Hopping and skipping into the woods behind their house, a trio of kids and their loyal doggy companion head off into the wild world in search of fairies.

Susie Spikol is a naturalist at the Harris Center for Conservation Education in Hancock, New Hampshire. A lifelong animal lover, Susie now helps people of all ages connect with the natural world. She is the author of The Animal Adventurer’s Guide. She will be reading from her latest book, Forest Magic for Kids: How to Find Fairies, Make a Secret Fort, and Cook Up an Elfin Picnic

Forest Magic for Kids is your enchanted guide to 50+ magical activities for everything from finding hidden flower fairies in your own backyard and making a special wizard staff to creating a tiny woodland village and making your own forest potions.

“Science facts readily interweave with a smattering of folklore as the text and charming illustrations encourage kids to charge up their imaginations and get outside….The spirits of scientific inquiry and old-fashioned wonder coexist happily here and will delight magic-minded children.” — Booklist
