MCL – The Blue Jean Ball Returns!
MANCHESTER, VT– Acid-washed, skinny, flared, high-waisted, boot cut, boyfriend – it doesn’t matter how you wear your denim! “Dress ‘em up or down” at the Blue Jean Ball in support of the Manchester Community Library. Join the party at 6:30 p.m. under the tent on the Library lawn. Enjoy tasty food, timeless music, literary cocktails, a raffle, and a live auction! Then, get ready to dance the night away.
After a long hiatus, the Blue Jean Ball returns to wrap up the celebrations of the Manchester Community Library’s tenth anniversary at 138 Cemetery Ave. Hub’s Catering Company of East Dorset will provide the party fare, complete with specialty cocktails designed on a literary theme. The official definition of Blue Jean Ball, according to the event organizers, is “A large party featuring dancing to which one wears blue denim trousers having reinforced pockets and seams.” Tickets are $125 per person and can be purchased on the Library’s website at mclvt.org or in person at the MCL Help Desk. All proceeds will directly benefit the Manchester Community Library.
“We are so excited to revive this fantastic event after so many years,” said Christine Miles, MCL Honorary Trustee and veteran organizer of the Blue Jean Ball. “Not only is it an excellent way to bring the community together in support of our beloved Manchester Community Library, but it has historically proven to be a very good time.”
As government services and grant funding are slashed left and right, it’s more important than ever to bolster community support for our local libraries. While the MCL is not directly funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services or federal grants, many organizations that provide financial, programmatic, and other support to the Library do receive government funds that are essential to their operation. As the fiscal year comes to a close, the Library looks to the future with the knowledge that, while federal funding cuts and universally rising costs will pose a challenge, MCL can always find strength and encouragement from the Northshire community. The return of the Blue Jean Ball, an event that began at the Mark Skinner Library, is an opportunity for the community to come together in solidarity and support while celebrating the Manchester Community Library’s tenth anniversary.
So, whether you love your mom jeans or are sporting the latest designer denim, grab your friends, support your Library, and join us under the tent at 138 Cemetery Ave in Manchester. The party will start at 6:30 pm sharp on Friday, June 13th. Who knows when the next Blue Jean Ball will appear!
