Manchester, Vermont – September 11, 2025 – Maple Street School has launched Opening New Doors, a $10 million capital campaign designed to transform its campus, strengthen financial aid, and invest in teacher excellence. With $6 million already raised, the school plans to break ground on its new addition in spring 2026. Kirk Moore, of BMA Architects, is the architect of record for the new addition.

For more than 25 years, Maple Street School has been a cornerstone of education in Southern Vermont, serving Pre-K through Grade 8 students from 18 towns across the region. Today, the school enrolls 145 students, with 31% of families receiving financial assistance. The campaign’s goal is to expand access to excellent education and to reinforce Maple Street’s mission, where the joy of learning ignites curiosity, growth, and independence.

Opening New Doors focuses on three strategic priorities:

  • One Campus, One Community: Expand facilities to include a new Upper School wing, relocate Pre-K to the main campus, create an enhanced STEM Idea Lab, and build purpose-designed arts, music, and wellness spaces.

  • Access & Affordability: Establish a permanent financial aid endowment to ensure students from all backgrounds can attend Maple Street.

  • Faculty Excellence: Invest in teacher professional development, curricular innovation, and national training opportunities.

“Maple Street’s impact extends far beyond the classroom,” said Dan Skoglund, Head of School. “Strong schools make strong communities, drive economic growth, and enrich the cultural fabric of Southern Vermont. We are deeply grateful to the donors, families, trustees, and friends who have already stepped forward with such generosity. Their early commitments reflect a shared belief in Maple Street’s mission and have given us the momentum to dream bigger.”

With $6 million already secured, Maple Street invites the community to join in shaping the next chapter of its history. Opening New Doors will ensure that Maple Street remains a vibrant, inclusive, and forward-looking school for generations to come. “This campaign is not only about expanding access to exceptional education, it’s about investing in the future of our entire region and opening new doors for generations of students to come,” said Julie Mackey, Director of Advancement at Maple Street School.
