GMALL – Prometheus Bound
MANCHESTER, VT>> Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning (GMALL) is excited to present “Prometheus Bound” an original courtroom drama, written by Dorset’s Alan Stoga. The presentation will take place on Tuesday, June 10 from 5 to 7 pm at the Bennington County Courthouse in Manchester Village.
In this staged reading, Prometheus was designed to control the infrastructure of the Upper Connecticut River using Artificial Intelligence. When torrential rains produce yet another “once in a century flood,” Prometheus partly “fails,” resulting in death and destruction in a small Vermont town. Now its creator is on trial for criminal negligence leading to the deaths of eight people and the injury of scores more.
Who is responsible for the consequences of decisions made by Artificial Intelligence? AI failed; people died. Is anyone guilty? As the jury, your job is to deliberate the fate of the AI engineer.
The staged reading features actors Maxine Linehan, Willy Appelman, and Megan Demarest, as well as local notables Rev. Bill Borror, Rabbi Michael Cohen, Jay Gerber, Rev. Steve Longley, Christy Vogel and Susan Willetts.
