GMALL – In Search of Greatness: Yousuf Karsh’s Iconic Portraits of 20th Century Heroes
MANCHESTER, VT>> Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning (GMALL) is happy to welcome back writer and photographer Christopher Dant to talk about famed photographer Yousuf Karsh. The talk will take place on Tuesday, April 8 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm online via Zoom video conference. More than any other 20th Century photographers, the Armenian-born Yousuf Karsh boldly and beautifully captured some of our great presidents, world statesmen, writers, artists, and actors, photographic images that stand today as testaments of their lives. Each photograph tells fascinating personal stories of Winston Churchill, Dwight Eisenhower, John Kennedy and Ronald Reagan, astronauts Neil Armstrong, writers Ernest Hemmingway and George Bernard Shaw, and actors like Gregory Peck, Clark Gable, Judy Garland, and many more. Join Christopher Dant for a fascinating look at some of the most stunningly beautiful portraits of these famous heroes of our time and hear their stories as told to Karsh. In the 1970s, Dant studied with Ansel Adams and by association Karsh, and he recounts his experiences with the photographer and tells how these brilliant images were made and their delightful associated tales. Registration is $22 per person. The Zoom link will be sent 24 hours in advance of the program.
