BCSWA – Paint Share Event Offers Free Paint Local Artists, Businesses, and Citizens
Bennington, VERMONT- On Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM Bennington County Solid Waste Alliance (BCSWA) will be hosting a Paint Share giveaway event. At this event unwanted paint in good condition that has been dropped off at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility will be made available to the public for free. Color options and volumes are not guaranteed, and paint is provided as-is.
Residents, schools, and businesses located within the Alliance can visit the Household Hazardous Waste collection facility at the Bennington Transfer Station (904 Houghton Lane, Bennington) and select paint of their choice to take home free of charge for their household project, theater set, fence, or other creative endeavor.
Registration is required and space is limited. Interested residents must pre-register prior to the event at: BCSWA.org/PaintShare. The paint on hand is a result of public collection and no information is available about color tints, formulations, or quantities. The material is available on a first-come-first-serve basis.
The Household Hazardous Waste Collection facility at the Bennington Transfer Station collects literally tons of discarded paint each season. That paint is usually sent to a facility in Rhode Island for recycling, but this year BCSWA is offering area residents the opportunity to select paint from available inventory to use on their next project for free.
PaintCare, the stewardship organization that collects paint for recycling will reimburse the Alliance a small fee for each gallon distributed, thereby making use of paint that would otherwise need to be recycled.
