Arlington Common Announces Major Facade Renovation Project for its Performance Hall
ARLINGTON, VT – The Arlington Common is pleased to announce a significant restoration project for
the façade of its Performance Hall, which is recognized by the State for its significant mid-century
modern design. This project is being supported in part by a grant from the Paul Bruhn Historic
Revitalization Grants Program from the Historic Preservation Fund administered by the National
Park Service, Department of the Interior, in partnership with the Preservation Trust of Vermont.
The project will replace the deteriorating fiberglass panels and windows. The work will be undertaken by
a local contractor, Albert Construction, who recently completed the renovation work of the Common’s
Watkins House.
A key element of this project is the commitment to historical accuracy and authenticity. The new
fiberglass windows will be custom-made to match the original lime green color and style of the windows
that were first installed when the building was constructed in 1964. This careful attention to detail will
restore the Performance Hall’s exterior to its original vibrant and distinctive appearance.
“This renovation is a testament to our dedication to preserving the historic integrity of this building,
which has been a cornerstone of our community for decades,” said Bill Bullock, Board Chair from the
Arlington Common. “The Bruhn Grant has been instrumental in making this dream a reality. This project
is not just about a new facade; it’s about honoring our past while building for our future. It will also make
the building more sustainable and comfortable in the summer and winter months.”
With the facade project underway, the Arlington Common is also excited to announce a full calendar of
upcoming events designed to engage and enrich the community. The Performance Hall will continue to
host monthly Open Mic Nights, providing a stage for local talent on the last Friday of the month.
In partnership with the Martha Canfield Memorial Free Library, the Arlington Common will also launch
this month a series of Movie and Discussion Nights, offering a space for shared cinematic experiences
and community conversation. The movies will be shown for free every second Sunday of the month.
Other film events will also be happening soon.
Capping off the exciting season of events will be the much-anticipated inaugural community theater
production of Moon Over Buffalo. Rehearsals are already in full swing for this hilarious and fast-paced
comedy, which promises to be a highlight of the fall season.
The Arlington Common invites the community to follow its social media channels and website for
updates on the construction progress and for a full schedule of all upcoming events. To contribute to the
