Manchester, VT — The Manchester Community Library is excited to announce a new monthly program designed to ignite a love for science in young learners. Beginning this August, Science Hour with Jason Pergament will be held on the fourth Saturday of each month, offering engaging, hands-on science experiences for students in grades 3–7 (ages 8–14).

The series will be led by Jason Pergament, a veteran educator and current 4th–6th grade Math and Science teacher at the Mountain School at Winhall. Each month, Pergament will guide students through interactive demonstrations exploring a different scientific concept—from the phases of the moon and seasons to magnets, pulleys, and chemical reactions.

“I’m really excited to be bringing my love for science to the community,” says Pergament. “Science helps us make sense of the world around us. By engaging in an inquiry process, I hope to shed light on how things happen—but more importantly, to foster scientific thinking and help kids discover answers to their own questions!”

Pergament is also the founder of Onward Rising (onwardrising.com), an educational initiative with a mission to empower learners to set and achieve ambitious goals, cultivate empowering habits, and foster resilience while embracing growth as a lifelong journey.

The first Science Hour, to be held on Saturday, August 23, from 11 am to 12 pm, will focus on why the seasons and phases of the moon change predictably, encouraging participants to think critically about natural patterns and celestial movement. Each session is designed to inspire curiosity and build confidence in scientific exploration.

Science Hour is free and open to the public.
