MCL – Manchester Voices: Student Art Exhibit Brings Local Stories to Life
Manchester, VT — Manchester Community Library is proud to present Manchester Voices, an evocative and inspiring collection of artwork created by the talented students of Long Trail School. The exhibit, which opens on Friday, April 4th, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, offers a unique glimpse into the heart of the Northshire community by showcasing stories captured through the eyes of the next generation.
Each piece in Manchester Voices is inspired by in-depth interviews conducted by the students with local residents. These conversations explored personal histories, cherished traditions, and diverse perspectives, allowing students to translate these rich narratives into visually stunning works of art. The resulting exhibit is a warm hug between generations, celebrating the diverse voices that make the community a whole.
“It was a delight creating the opportunity for an intergenerational project where students from Long Trail got a glimpse of Manchester’s past through informal dialogues with local community members,” said Paige Vignola, Assistant Director and manager of the Gallery at Manchester Community Library. “I can’t wait to see how the community responds to the imagination and creativity inspired by individual stories.”
The exhibit invites Northshire residents to engage with the stories of their friends and neighbors and to see their own history through a new lens. Each piece serves as both a glimpse into the past and a call to the future, fostering meaningful dialogue between generations.
Join us on April 4th at Manchester Community Library to experience Manchester Voices firsthand. Step into a space where the past, present, and future of the Northshire come alive through the creativity and insight of our young artists. The exhibit will be on display at the Library through May 12th, 2025 in the Main Gallery space.
