Manchester Community Library Invites the Community to Meet New Executive Director
Manchester, VT — The Manchester Community Library (MCL) is pleased to invite the public to a special meet-and-greet event with its new Executive Director, Matt DeLaney, on Friday, September 13th, from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. Community members are encouraged to stop by, enjoy light refreshments, and get to know the Library’s new leader.
“As a lifelong lover of libraries, it is my privilege to introduce myself as the new Executive Director of the Manchester Community Library,” DeLaney said. “Throughout my career, I’ve come to realize that public libraries are more vital today than ever before. With a talented and dedicated staff, a state-of-the-art facility, and strong community support, MCL truly stands out. I’m excited to join all of you in building on the Library’s momentum.”
Matt DeLaney brings a wealth of experience to MCL, with over 15 years of public service in both urban and rural libraries across the Northeast. His most recent role was as the Director of the Jesup Memorial Library in Bar Harbor, Maine, a Library of similar size and scope as the MCL. He has also held leadership positions at the Millinocket Memorial Library (ME), the Onondaga County Public Library (NY), and the Manlius Library (NY). In 2018, he was recognized as “Outstanding Librarian of the Year” by the Maine Library Association.
“As a father of two young boys, I’ve seen firsthand how a local library can nourish curiosity, spark new friendships, and open up the world,” DeLaney added. “Those same values—curiosity, lifelong learning, and inclusivity—are at the heart of MCL and what makes this community so special.”
The event will feature an informal meet-and-greet session accompanied by music, small bites, and non-alcoholic beverages. The MCL Board of Trustees and staff look forward to introducing Matt to the community.
This event is free and open to the public at Manchester Community Library, 138 Cemetery Ave, Manchester Center, VT.
