At GNAT-TV, we’re deeply committed to empowering the next generation through our comprehensive youth programs. Understanding media and technology is not just about learning to use tools; it’s about mastering the language of our times. Camps

Our camps combine the excitement of immersive field trips with hands-on learning, offering participants ages 8 and up the chance to dive into the basics of media production, storytelling, and digital creativity. Whether it’s exploring professional studios, mastering filmmaking, animation, video storytelling, or even the art of hosting and directing, each camp is designed to inspire curiosity and foster a deep understanding of media’s role in society.

Afterschool & JISP

Extend learning beyond the classroom with GNAT-TV’s after-school offerings and JISP. Designed for children aged 8 and up, these programs provide a unique platform to engage with diverse aspects of media creation, from conceptualization to production, in a supportive and enriching environment.

Internships

For those ready to take their media interest to the next level, GNAT-TV offers practical internship opportunities. Participants will gain firsthand experience in television station operations, content creation, and community engagement, working alongside media professionals to develop real-world projects and build a strong foundation for a future career in media.

Workshops

Tailored for both individuals and groups, our workshops span a wide range of media-related activities. From in-depth explorations of video editing and camera work to customized sessions designed to ignite creativity and curiosity, our workshops are adaptable to meet the unique goals and interests of each participant, ensuring a personalized learning journey.

Field Trips and School Workshops

GNAT-TV offers hands-on media education field trips and workshops to schools within Vermont’s Northshire and Mountain Towns region. Get a behind-the-scenes tour and film a show as a class in a real TV studio, or have our media educators bring a filmmaking workshop to your school! Work as a crew to film a cooking show, talk show, or short film, or match media production opportunities to your curriculum by producing weather reports, book discussions, mini documentaries, or school news. Our professional producers work with you every step of the way!

We offer customized media education experiences for students in grades K through 12, as well as professional development workshops for educators who want to bring digital storytelling into the classroom. Email education@gnat-tv.org and we’ll follow up with more information!

Through these integrated programs, GNAT-TV is committed to empowering individuals with the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to navigate and shape the media landscape confidently. Kids are also welcome to submit their own content to our youth-directed kids’ variety show, The Roundup! Are there scholarship opportunities available for the camps?

Yes, we offer scholarships to ensure that our camps are accessible to all interested youth, regardless of their financial situation. Scholarships are awarded based on financial need, following the American Camp Association guidelines. To apply, please fill out the scholarship application form available on our website, and include any required supporting documents.

What is the process for applying for a scholarship?

To apply for a scholarship, fill out the scholarship application form on our website. Our scholarship committee will review all applications and make decisions based on financial need and the applicant’s demonstrated interest in the program.

Notification: Applicants will be notified of the scholarship decision via email within two weeks of the application deadline.

What is your youth programming refund policy?

Full payment for GNAT-TV’s youth media programming includes a $50 processing fee. If you cancel 30 days before the first day of camp, you will receive a full refund of tuition minus the $50 processing fee. If you contact us within 30 days, you will receive a full refund less the $50 processing fee only if we are able to fill the spot from our waitlist.

If other camps still have availability and you would like to change weeks, we are happy to transfer your registration to a different camp once in lieu of a refund.

We reserve the right to cancel camps. Participants affected by cancellation will either receive a full refund (including the $50 processing fee), or we will work to relocate participants to another camp.

There are several ways you can support our spring youth programming campaign:

Set Up a Recurring Donation: Recurring donations provide steady, reliable funding that ensures ongoing support for our youth programs. Even a small monthly donation can make a huge impact over time.
