STRATTON — The Bennington County Regional Commission (BCRC), Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation (BDCC) and SeVEDS will host the Southern Vermont Economic Development Summit on Wednesday, May 24th, 2017.  The event will begin at 9:30am and end with a reception featuring a Young Professionals Recognition Ceremony from 4-6pm. The event will be held at the Stratton Mountain Base Lodge in Stratton VT. This summit focuses on economic and workforce development activity in the Southern Vermont Economic Development Zone. This geographic area, encompassing the two most southern counties of Vermont, Bennington and Windham, was identified by the Legislature in 2015 as having significant economic and workforce development challenges.

Summit attendees will be able to examine innovative responses to emerging issues in community and regional economic development, and share perspectives on the ongoing partnership between planning and development groups in Bennington and Windham counties. Representative boards from both counties have agreed to move forward in development of a two county Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS). The day will close with a reception co-hosted by the Young Professionals groups active in Southern Vermont with comments offered by Governor Phil Scott, which will celebrate notable achievements by some of Southern Vermont’s up-and-coming community and business leaders.

his event is open to the public.
