Dorset water restrictions announced
Due to the lack of rainfall, the level of water in the Dorset Water System has fallen dramatically. It is now necessary to institute restrictions on water usage in order to allow the production of water from our springs to keep up with usage.
Until these restrictions are lifted, all outside water usage by all residential and commercial water users of the system is expressly prohibited. Prohibited usage includes recharging swimming pools, watering lawns, watering gardens and washing vehicles. In addition, we ask your cooperation in conserving water used inside your homes and businesses.
We anticipate this condition will continue until typical autumn weather returns with seasonal soaking rains. Please be aware that it may take up to two weeks for the spring production to increase after a soaking rain.
Should you observe other users of the Dorset Water System not adhering to these restrictions, we encourage you to inform them of the restrictions. Should their usage continue, please report this to our water operator, Jim McGinnis, at 375-4021 or send email to jimmcginnis3@gmail.com.
You can visit the district’s website, www.DorsetFireDistrict.org, for status changes on water restrictions. On the website you can also sign up to receive automatic email updates.
