Benjamin Lerner Releases Music Video for “Distant,” A Striking Visual Accompaniment to his Bold New EP, RUN TOWARDS THE TRUTH
[East Arlington, Vermont]— Old Mill Road Recording is proud to announce the release of the official music video for “Distant,” featuring Benjamin Lerner, a Vermont-based Recording Artist, Recovery Advocate, Writer, Radio Host, and Social Media Influencer. A recovering IV fentanyl, heroin, and crack cocaine addict, now sober since June 2016, Lerner fearlessly channels the lessons he has learned over the course of his sobriety into his music. He combines elements of Hip-Hop, Spoken Word, Classical Music, Jazz, and Folk Music to create a unique and powerful sound.
“Distant” is the closing track from Benjamin Lerner’s new EP, RUN TOWARDS THE TRUTH. This introspective and emotional video serves as a powerful visual representation of Lerner’s inner turmoil, further amplifying the impact of his recovery and mental health advocacy through music.
Released last Friday, February 21st., RUN TOWARDS THE TRUTH is the second installment in Lerner’s three-part EP series, following the success of KEEP MOVING FORWARD. The EP builds upon his established recovery music catalog, weaving his signature hard-hitting lyricism with compelling production. The first three tracks—“Get Out While You Still Can,” “Impostor Syndrome,” and “Switched Up”—blend sharp, introspective storytelling with dynamic Hip-Hop beats and melodic hooks. The final track, “Distant,” strips everything back to an intimate vocal performance over live piano, creating a deeply vulnerable and haunting moment within the project.
Lerner’s first EP in the three-part series, KEEP MOVING FORWARD, struck a powerful chord with listeners. Its songs have accumulated over two million video views through social media reels and garnered tens of thousands of streams across platforms since its release.
With RUN TOWARDS THE TRUTH, Lerner and Sherman continue to push the boundaries of Lerner’s sound. All of the songs on RUN TOWARDS THE TRUTH were produced by Sherman and mixed by GRAMMY® Award-winning audio engineer, Benjamin J. Arrindell at the NAMM TEC® Award-winning studio, Old Mill Road Recording.
The music video for “Distant,” filmed at Old Mill Road Recording by Nick Burchard, was created by Dr. Joshua Sherman and Nick Burchard. Featuring intricate, layered, multi-channeled visuals, the video creates an immersive, emotionally charged landscape that mirrors the lush, pianistic musicality and evocative lyrical content of the song.

Beyond the music, the EP’s title reflects the second phrase in Lerner’s personal recovery mantra:
Keep moving forward. Run towards the truth. Don’t quit before the miracle happens.
These words, which closed out Lerner’s long-running CLEAN Column in the Vermont News Guide for five years, continue to shape his advocacy efforts alongside his producer and mentor, Dr. Joshua Sherman. Together, the two have built Lerner’s journey into a multi-platform recovery advocacy campaign, from CLEAN Jams on 102.7 WEQX to speaking engagements at such prestigious institutions as The Aspen Institute and Carnegie Hall, as well as a social media platform with over 300,000 followers and 150 million combined video views.
With the release of the Distant music video, Lerner remains unwavering in his commitment to sharing his story of recovery through music.
