Ask a Speech Language Pathologist at Manchester Community Library
MANCHESTER, VT– Manchester Community Library (MCL) and Northshire Day School (NDS) are partnering up to bring Speech Language Pathologist Patty Michl to the Library during Thursday morning’s NDS Playgroup. The weekly playgroup gives kids ages 0-6 and their families the opportunity to play, socialize, and share a snack. Parents are also able to take advantage of free community resources–both those regularly offered by the Library, and pop-up clinics and guest speakers specifically geared toward the playgroup attendees.
The “Ask a Speech Language Pathologist” series will occur on Thursday mornings during the 10:30 – 12 pm playgroup. Patty Michl will give parents the opportunity to ask questions and explore topics related to early childhood language development, broken up into three conversation topics:
-
March 13: What is typical language development?
-
March 20: Creating a language-rich environment in your daily life
-
March 27: Technology – The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
Michl offers examples of frequently asked questions such as, “My child is one and hasn’t said ‘dada’ or ‘mama’ yet–should I be worried?” and “My toddler and I read together every day – what else can I do to help develop language?” With over 20 years of experience serving Bennington County families, she hopes to answer all possible questions and put parents’ worries to rest.
Playgroup with Northshire Day School is made possible in part by a grant from Sunrise Family Resource Center in Bennington. MCL and NDS have worked together in hopes of bringing vital community resources to young families at no cost. Parents of young children are encouraged to stop by Playgroup this March to speak with Patty Michl, Thursdays, March 13 – 27 from 10:30 am to noon at Manchester Community Library, 138 Cemetery Ave, Manchester Center, VT.
