The Du Bois Freedom Center invites the community to join us to celebrate W. E. B. Du Bois’s powerful legacy and the rich Black history of the Berkshires as we unveil a vibrant new center for learning, dialogue, and cultural pride. Explore our exhibits, engage with local leaders, and join conversations that honor the past, inspire the present, and shape a future rooted in justice, knowledge, and community connection.

Kick off the weekend at our newly renovated field office -309 Main Street. Explore our updated exhibits, meet and mingle with the community, and hear from Dr. John D. Lloyd, Interim Executive Director, and Marcus P. Smith, DFC Archival Fellow, about the plans and vision for the Center’s growth and programming.

At 11:00 AM, take part in a Great Barrington Walking Tour, led by Marcus P. Smith, tracing Du Bois’s footsteps through significant historic sites including Saint James Place, Town Hall, First Congregational Church, Clinton A.M.E. Zion Church, the Rosseter Street Neighborhood, the Railroad Street Youth Project Murals, and the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center. Continue the celebration and join us back at 309 Main Street with more time to experience the exhibits and community connections. *Registration for Walking Tours Required
