MCL Unveils New Hybrid AV System in Collaboration with GNAT-TV
Manchester, VT – The Manchester Community Library’s ability to provide community engagement and enrichment through both in-person and virtual programming has just gotten a powerful upgrade. Acoustic and audiovisual system upgrades have been completed in the Library’s Hunter Community Room, enhancing the in-person experience for all programming, improving access for virtual attendees, and making management more accessible for presenters. Included in the upgrades is an all-new hybrid video streaming system, developed in partnership with GNAT-TV. This forward-thinking partnership brings together two mission-driven organizations to expand both in-person and digital participation in local life, ensuring inclusive and equitable access for all.
The new system allows community members to attend Library events in person or remotely, while also recording high-quality video for on-demand viewing on GNAT-TV platforms. It bridges the gap between physical and digital spaces, allowing more community members to engage with local programming, whether from home or at the Library. The system design dramatically improves the Library’s capabilities for large hybrid meetings. Meeting hosts will be able to share their presentations more easily, both in-person and online, synchronously. Virtual participants will feel more present and connected to the meeting space.
“Libraries are places of connection, learning, and access,” said Edward Surjan, Executive Director of Manchester Community Library. “Our upgraded technology and collaboration with GNAT-TV allows us to extend these values even further by making our programs available to anyone, anywhere.”
The public is invited to a special launch event on Tuesday, May 27, from 5:30–6:30 PM. Attend in person at the Manchester Community Library or virtually via live stream at gnat-tv.org/live. The event will include live demonstrations of the hybrid system and an opportunity to explore the technology firsthand.
“This partnership is about more than just technology,” said Tammie Reilly, Executive Director of GNAT-TV. “It’s about empowering the community through accessible media, storytelling, and shared experiences. Together with MCL, we’re creating a hub for learning, connection, and civic participation.”
This initiative underscores a shared commitment to equity, innovation, and community service. By combining MCL’s mission-driven programming with GNAT-TV’s media production expertise and distribution capabilities, the new hybrid system provides a powerful platform for fostering civic engagement, creativity, and connection across Southern Vermont.
