GMALL – How Real is the Cybersecurity Threat?
MANCHESTER, VT>> Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning (GMALL) welcomes Dr. Galen Jackson of Williams College and facilitator Brian Suslak to talk about the threat of cyber attacks. The discussion will take place on Thursday, May 8 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm in Yester House at Southern Vermont Arts Center and online via live stream. Are cyber weapons as potentially terrifying as nuclear weapons? What are the risks? Many analysts and policymakers argue that the advent of digital technologies—and their weaponization—have fundamentally transformed international politics. Indeed, some go so far as to compare the development of cyberweapons to the advent of nuclear weapons. On the other hand, skeptics consider the cyber threat overblown. Williams College Professor Galen Jackson, an expert on international relations and nuclear security, will explain the competing claims and explore the comparison to nuclear weapons. Registration is $20 per person. For more information or to register, please call 802-867-0111 or visit our website at greenmtnacademy.org.
