SVAC names new executive director

MANCHESTER — The Board Trustees of Southern Vermont Arts Center has announced the selection of Elizabeth Paxson as its executive director. Ms. Paxson succeeds Joan Teaford who has served as interim executive director since July 1, 2016.
Paxson was born and raised in Winooski, Vt., and is a graduate of the University of Vermont. Her business career includes serving in a number of key positions with major luxury brands including Etro, Malo/Gianfranco Ferre, and Valentino. She has successfully created and managed partnerships with major retailers such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman. Elizabeth brings her skills and experience in building brand awareness, sales, and executive management to SVAC.
“We are pleased to welcome Elizabeth to the Arts Center family and confident that she will build on Joan Teaford’s excellent work to streamline our operations and deliver outstanding exhibits and programming to our community,” said SVAC Board President Judi McCormick. “We are grateful that Joan will be working with Elizabeth to assure a smooth transition in leadership.”
“I look forward to the challenges and opportunities of being part of a leadership team looking at the future of the SVAC as its celebrates 100 years and looks ahead,” Paxson said. “I will work diligently to exceed the expectations of the board and the community.”
Paxson resides in Dorset with her husband Michael and their daughter.
