Welcome to the Circus! Free Family Fun Day at MCL Promises to Chase Away Winter Blues
In all the whole town, the most wonderful spot
is on Cemetery Ave in The Maples shared lot.
It’s just the right spot for some good family fun,
A circus that’s all Librarian-run.
The MCL Circus! With hotdogs and stunts!
The MCL Circus! With scavenger hunts!
The MCL Circus! Popcorn! Live band!
Balloon art! Free play! Stilts made of cans!
We’re bringing out acrobats and jugglers, no clowns,
for a free day of fun in our very own town.
MCL is the place the whole family can play,
On the annual Take Your Child to the Library Day!
MANCHESTER, VT–Get ready for a fun-filled day of free family activities at Manchester Community Library on Saturday, February 7th. This year’s theme at MCL is Welcome to the Circus!, and the event will feature circus performances, crafts, food, and games to keep participants of all ages warm and entertained.
Take Your Child to the Library Day (TYCLD) was established at Waterford Public Library in Connecticut in 2011 to highlight all that public libraries offer children of all ages. Since then, TYCLD has been celebrated annually worldwide on the first Saturday in February. Over the past three years, MCL has marked TYCLD by hosting a Family Fun Day for the community, focused on February’s Love Your Library Month.
This year’s circus theme promises to elevate the fun. Circus-themed scavenger hunts will be open throughout the day for kids of all ages. The day will feature extraordinary Japanese circus artist Ryunosake, who will awe audiences at 11 am in the Library’s Hunter Community Room with Chinese pole acrobatics and Big Ball juggling acts. The Maple Street School rock band will add some high-energy tunes to the fun at noon. Get your game on in the Young Adult Loft with a host of cardboard carnival games, including skee ball and spinning tops, crafted by the Library’s own Tinker Lab after-school program. Take on movement challenges with hula hoops, parachutes, stilts, and more to see if you have what it takes to make it in the circus. Local artist Ian Mosher will be in the craft room at 1 pm to help you make your own balloon animals. Decompress before you leave with a free screening of The Greatest Showman. And snacks? We have you covered with steamed hot dogs, fresh popcorn, and cotton candy.
Visit the Library Help Desk or go to mclvt.org to see the full schedule of events. Everyone is welcome at Manchester Community Library, 138 Cemetery Ave, Manchester Center, VT, from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday, February 7th, to join the fun!
This year’s Family Fun Day has been generously sponsored by the Klimpton Taconic Hotel.
