Vermont Secretary of State Sarah Copeland Hanzas Announces 2026 Vermont Voter Guide

Montpelier, VT– Vermont Secretary of State Sarah Copeland Hanzas announced today that the 2026 General Election Vermont Voter Guide is available online for the November 3rd General Election.

The Secretary of State’s office originally planned to mail a printed copy of the Vermont Voter Guide to every active registered voting household in the state. After a printing vendor delay, it shifted to optimizing the online version.

The Secretary of State’s office initiated the first Statewide Voter Guide during the 2024 General Election. The online resource provided voters with information about the voting process, the role of elected positions on the ballot, and statements and contact information from candidates. “When I talk to Vermonters who say they aren’t voting, they tell me it’s because they don’t know the candidates or the issues on the ballot. Vermonters don’t want to vote in ignorance. This Universal Voter Guide empowers people to vote,” explained Secretary Copeland Hanzas.

The Voter Guide can be accessed online in two places:

  1. A dedicated webpage, where voters can search their address on an interactive map: https://map.vermont.gov/voting-info-lookup/
  2. The Vermont Voter Portal: https://vote.vermont.gov/

“The vision was to have a district-specific printed Voter Guide mailed to Vermonters. I am disappointed that could not occur this year for logistical reasons. I am, however, pleased that our office can provide digital access. A postcard has been mailed to every household with access information,” stated Secretary Copeland Hanzas. “This shift in strategy does not change our office’s commitment to providing a standardized, non-partisan guide with information about everything that’s on your ballot, including the local candidates, so that Vermonters can make informed, confident choices when they cast their ballot.”

The online guides match each of the 283 district-specific ballots. It includes information from statewide, legislative, and county-level candidates, as well as information about the two constitutional amendments that are on the ballot this year.

General Election ballots have been mailed to all active registered voters. Voters are encouraged to check in with their local clerk if they have not received their ballot in the mail by now. Clerks can provide a replacement ballot to voters with a signed affidavit to prevent double-voting. Voters can track their ballot on the Vermont Voter Portal.

Voters can find their local clerk as well as polling and drop box locations at: https://map.vermont.gov/voting-info-lookup/

and/or the Vermont Voter Portal: https://vote.vermont.gov/

The General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2026. The following offices are up for election: U.S. Representative to Congress, Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Treasurer, Secretary of State, Auditor of Accounts, Attorney General, all 30 State Senate seats, all 150 State Representative seats, Probate Judge, Assistant Judges, State’s Attorney, Sheriff, High Bailiff, and Justices of the Peace. Two constitutional amendments are also on this year’s General Election ballot.
