The Garden Club of Manchester Announces Annual “All Things Gardening” Sale
MANCHESTER, VT — This spring, the Garden Club of Manchester (GCM) invites the
community to dig into the season at their highly anticipated All Things Gardening –
Plant, Bake and Tag Sale. On Saturday, May 16, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the
Southern Vermont Arts Center’s Arkell Pavilion will transform into a Green and vibrant
marketplace featuring locally grown starter plants, member’s perennials, unique garden
treasures, and artisanal baked goods.
More than just a sale, this annual tradition serves as a fundraiser supporting the GCM’s
beautification and scholarship programs.
Grown by Neighbors, For Neighbors
Whether you are a seasoned horticulturalist or a first-time gardener, the selection is
curated for success in the Vermont climate. Attendees can browse a robust collection
of:
Locally Hardy Perennials: Hostas, Bleeding Hearts, Daisies and much more.
Starter Plants: Healthy herbs and annual geraniums grown by GCM members and the
historic Hildene estate.
Garden Treasures: A “tag sale” featuring gently used tools, decorative planters, and
unique outdoor décor.
“Purchasing from our sale means bringing home plants that are proven to thrive right
here in our soil,” says Carolyn Brogan, Event Co-Chair. “Our members take pride in
cleaning and examining every plant to ensure it arrives at your home healthy and ready
to bloom.”
Expertise and Edibles
The event offers more than just greenery. Several GCM members are Master
Gardeners who will be on-site to offer personalized advice on what to plant and how to
help your landscape flourish.
For those who prefer the kitchen to the garden, the Bake Sale is a destination in itself.
“Our members are as talented in the kitchen as they are in the greenhouse,” says Co-
Chair Anne MacLaurin. “From savory focaccia and scones to homemade jams and
fudge, there is truly something for everyone. It’s a quintessentially Vermont way to
spend a Saturday.”
