Okemo Valley Introduces New Fall Foliage Train & Pop‑Up Fall Festival, Expanding Its Seasonal Rail Experiences
LUDLOW & CHESTER, VT — The Okemo Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the launch of a brand‑new autumn attraction—the Okemo Valley Fall Foliage Train & Pop‑Up Fall Festival, taking place October 3–4. This vibrant new event joins the region’s beloved Okemo Valley Holiday Express, returning December 19–20, creating a two‑season lineup of scenic rail experiences for families, visitors, and rail enthusiasts.
The Fall Foliage Train invites guests to step into Vermont’s most iconic season aboard a vintage railcar, offering “nearly an hour of scenic mountain views, brilliant color, and old‑fashioned rail charm” . The train departs from Ludlow, VT, running six times daily at 9:00am, 10:30am, 12:00pm, 1:30pm, 3:00pm, and 4:30pm on October 3 & 4. Surrounding the rail experience is a lively Pop‑Up Fall Festival, featuring local food, Vermont artisans, seasonal treats, and cozy autumn traditions that celebrate the best of the region.
The Chamber’s signature winter event, the Okemo Valley Holiday Express, returns just weeks later. Departing from the historic Chester Depot, this magical one‑hour ride offers families a joyful winter journey “through Vermont’s snow‑covered countryside” . Guests meet Santa and his elves aboard the train, with departures at 9am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm, and 5pm on December 19 & 20.
Celebrating Vermont by Rail, All Season Long
“With the addition of the Fall Foliage Train & Pop‑Up Fall Festival, Okemo Valley is building a seasonal rail tradition that captures the beauty and spirit of Vermont in both autumn and winter,” said the Okemo Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce. “These experiences bring together scenic rail, local culture, and family‑friendly fun in a way that truly reflects our region.”
Both events are hosted in partnership with Vermont Rail System.
