ARLINGTON, VT  Looking for a fun way to connect with your community, meet new friends, and share some laughs this year? Arlington Common Community Theater invites you to audition for its upcoming production of Noël Coward’s classic smash-hit comedy, Blithe Spirit. Directed by local theater enthusiast Tim Rice, this production is designed to be a true community effort.

Blithe Spirit is a fast-paced, laugh-out-loud comedy with a supernatural twist, making it the perfect project to welcome the fall. In this classic comedy, novelist Charles Condomine—hoping to get material for his new book—invites medium Madame Arcati into his home. Instead of literary inspiration, the eccentric medium conjures Elvira, Charles’s mischievous and very deceased first wife. Willful and temperamental in life and death, Elvira wreaks hilarious, haunting havoc as she attempts to sabotage Charles’s relationship with his current wife, Ruth, through a series of increasingly chaotic events.

Arlington Common Community Theater thrives on the energy of its community. Whether you are a seasoned stage veteran or were last in your high school play, come try out. All roles are open (two male and five female parts), and we are seeking diverse actors of all ages. Not looking to step into the spotlight? Theater is the ultimate team sport, and it takes a village to bring a ghost story to life! The production is also seeking volunteers to join the fun backstage. If you are interested in costuming, building sets, managing props, handling lights and sound, or simply helping out a great local arts initiative, we would love to have you on board.

●      Dates & Time: Thursday, July 16, and Sunday, July 19, 2026, at 7:00 PM.

●      Location: The Arlington Common Performance Hall, 3938 Rte. 7A, Arlington, VT.

●      Low-Stress Format: Auditions will be relaxed and casual, consisting entirely of cold readings from the script. There is no need to memorize a monologue—just bring your enthusiasm and a willingness to try something new!

●      Evening Showings: October 16, 17, 23, and 24, 2026, at 7:30 PM

●      Matinee Showing: October 18, 2026, at 2:00 PM
