GMALL Presents: Dutch Room Restoration Project at Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum

MANCHESTER>> Green Mountain Academy welcomes Holly Salmon, the John L. and Susan K. Gardner Director of Conservation at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, to talk about the restoration of its Dutch Room gallery. The talk will take place on Tuesday, August 25 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm in the Southern Vermont Arts Center’s new Van Degna Gallery and online via live stream. The Dutch Room is a grand second-floor gallery showcasing 17th-century Dutch and Flemish art. The comprehensive restoration addresses everything from terracotta tile floor to the intricately painted 16th century coffered ceiling and many of the works in-between. It is also the room where six of thirteen irreplaceable works of art were stolen in 1990, leaving behind empty frames and a reminder of the Museum’s unending hope for their return. Join Holly Salmon for a discussion of how she and the conservation team are carrying out this extensive restoration and the discoveries they’ve made along the way. Registration is $20 per person.
