Colin (Sebastian) Massey Announces Write-In Campaign for Arlington Selectboard – Uncontested Two-Year Seat
Arlington, VT — Colin Massey, known to many in the community as Sebastian Massey, has announced his candidacy as a write-in candidate for the two-year Selectboard seat on the Arlington ballot at this year’s Town Meeting election.
The two-year seat is currently uncontested and is separate from the three-year Selectboard seat, which has a candidate listed on the ballot. Massey is running specifically for the open two-year position.
Because this is a write-in campaign, Massey’s name will not appear printed on the ballot. Voters who wish to support him must write in Colin Massey, his legal first name, in the Selectboard race for the two-year seat in order for their vote to be counted.
Massey currently serves on the Arlington Planning Commission, where he has worked on thoughtful development review and long-term planning initiatives aimed at preserving Arlington’s character while preparing responsibly for future needs. He also serves on the board of the Battenkill Valley Health Center and is active in the Arlington Common Community Theatre, reflecting his commitment to both community well-being and local cultural life.
Professionally, Massey brings more than a decade of experience in healthcare technology with Optum Insight. As a product support manager, he has implemented radiology solutions in more than 25 major hospitals nationwide, introduced quality assurance software in hospitals of all sizes, and managed teams responsible for supporting complex claims-processing systems. His work has centered on operational efficiency, accountability, and collaborative problem-solving across diverse organizations.
A graduate of the University of Vermont and Champlain College, Massey also served two years in the U.S. Peace Corps in Niger, focusing on food security initiatives in rural communities. He credits that experience with deepening his belief in service-oriented leadership and practical, community-driven solutions.
“Local government has a direct impact on daily life, from budgeting and infrastructure to long-term planning,” Massey said. “I’m stepping forward to serve in the two-year seat because I believe in steady, collaborative leadership and thoughtful decision-making that keeps Arlington strong.”
Massey emphasized that voter clarity is important this election cycle. The three-year Selectboard seat will have a printed candidate on the ballot. The two-year seat will not list a candidate, and voters wishing to support Massey must write in: Colin Massey
