Berkshire Art Center Celebrates a Summer of Creativity for Kids, Families, and All Ages Across the Berkshires

STOCKBRIDGE, MA — This summer, Berkshire Art Center (BAC) is inviting families, young artists, and community members of all ages to make creativity part of their summer with a vibrant lineup of multigenerational workshops, youth programs, family events, private lessons, art parties, and the return of its beloved Summer in the Studios art programs.

Rooted in BAC’s mission of Art for All, Summer 2026 offers opportunities for children, caregivers, families, teens, and adults to connect through hands-on artmaking, imaginative exploration, and joyful community experiences designed to inspire creativity across generations.

“This summer is all about creating spaces where families can make together, children can discover their creative confidence, and community members of all ages can experience the joy and connection that art brings,” said BAC Executive Director Laura Thompson.

Among this summer’s family-focused programming is Mini Makers, a playful multi-sensory art experience for toddlers and caregivers led by Faculty Artist Johanna Merfeld, where little artists and grown-ups create side by side through storytelling, song, and hands-on projects. Families can also join Creative Calm: Family Breathing Board Workshop with Kaily Ritz, where participants design imaginative art tools that encourage mindfulness, focus, and relaxation through creative play.

Nature lovers can experience Botanical Weaving at Chesterwood, a special multigenerational workshop led by Robert Cohen at the historic Stockbridge estate, where participants of all ages will forage for natural materials and create woven artworks inspired by the surrounding gardens and landscape.

For older young artists, Creative Threads: Summer Sewing Studio for Teens & Tweens with Lilly Remondi offers a full-day introduction to both hand and machine sewing, giving students the opportunity to design playful sewing projects while exploring fashion, design, and creative independence.

BAC will also host a special Family & Dog Appreciation Night on Tuesday, July 21, welcoming the entire community to the Drifting Studio outside Citizens’ Hall in Stockbridge for an evening of artmaking, music, food, mindfulness, and playful family creativity — with four-legged companions invited too. The event is free for BAC Members.

For families seeking week-long summer programming, Summer in the Studios returns with immersive creative camps for ages 5–14 across three Berkshire County locations: Citizens’ Hall in Stockbridge, Old Town Hall in West Stockbridge, and Berkshire Music School in Pittsfield. Led by BAC’s experienced Faculty Artists, weekly camps invite young creators to explore drawing, painting, sculpture, storytelling, mixed media, music, and imaginative theme-based artmaking in welcoming, high-energy studio environments.

In addition to scheduled summer programming, BAC also offers Private Art Lessons for children, teens, adults, and families, providing one-on-one creative instruction tailored to individual interests and skill levels. Families and groups looking for unique summer celebrations can also book BAC Art Parties, available for groups of five or more and customizable for birthdays, gatherings, team-building events, or simply a memorable creative experience together.

Whether families are looking for summer camps, creative workshops, personalized instruction, or opportunities to simply make art together, Berkshire Art Center is offering countless ways to build connection, confidence, and creativity all summer long.

Registration is now open for all summer programming.
