New this year, we’re including music production and sound effects for film in our camp line-up!
All of GNAT-TV’s media education summer camp sessions take place at our Sunderland television studio in Southwestern Vermont. Scholarships are available; please complete the scholarship application before registering for camp.
Heat up the summer at our Cooking Show Camp! If you’ve got a knack for cooking and a personality that belongs on screen, this camp is for you. Our high-tech kitchen studio offers the perfect stage to learn cooking and presentation skills. Campers will develop confidence on camera, experiment with new recipes, and produce their own cooking segments. Get ready to showcase your culinary creativity and charm your audience!
Lights, camera, remake! At Crowdsourced Cinema Camp, campers will collaborate to recreate a scene from a famous film (film to be announced). Guided by industry professionals, they’ll explore the art of directing, cinematography, and acting while putting their own creative spin on a well-known movie. From pre-production to filming and editing, this camp offers a hands-on filmmaking experience that brings a classic film to life through fresh perspectives.
The hills are alive with the sound of movies! Campers will learn what goes into the making of films and videos beyond the visual aspect. They’ll learn how to create music for their films and how it changes the emotions a scene communicates. They will also learn the art of Foley: recorded sound effects after a video is shot for little details like footsteps and writing on a piece of paper.
A show a day keeps the doctor away… or something like that! Participating campers will learn to master broadcast TV. From late-night style interviews and science experiments in our kitchen set to facing counselors head-to-head in an epic game show challenge, the fun will be endless! campers will learn how to operate the studio cameras, audio equipment, and use our industry-standard Tricaster system, live graphics and all!
A jam-packed week of creativity! Campers learn to use the same digital creation tools as the experts, including Blender animation, Scratch video game coding, sound effects and game music creation, and stop motion animation. While developing projects, campers will also experiment with favorite storytelling techniques used by game developers and animators to develop their projects.
Back by popular demand! If you missed the first session, here’s another chance to join our Cooking Show Camp. Campers will once again have the opportunity to learn professional cooking and presentation skills, develop confidence on camera, and create their own cooking segments. This camp is perfect for young chefs who love being in the spotlight and want to share their culinary creations with the world.
