Before Mildred Orton became the esteemed businesswoman and respected community member we admire today, she was Mildred Wilcox, the daughter of a local farmer in Manchester, VT. She grew up wearing beautiful homemade dresses and traveled to school in a horse-drawn carriage—or a sled, depending on the season. In this episode of Timestamp, we explore a remarkable history project by fourth-grader Elise Penges, who had the unique opportunity to interview Mrs. Orton about her childhood. This interview provides a heartfelt glimpse into the early life of a woman whose legacy continues to inspire.
