Announcing the Spring Season at Bennington Museum
Bennington Museum will re-open to the public for its spring season on April 1st, 2025.
In addition to the Museum’s permanent collection, two special exhibitions will be on view, both with a focus on art-making in this community.
The Annual Student Art Show
The annual display of artwork by students in preschool through high school examines the process of artistic development and includes work from a dozen area schools. Grouped by grade, the work demonstrates how art teachers move students through the basic elements of art to more complex principles of design, use famous artworks and works from an array of cultures and time periods, and introduce students to a variety of media and materials. The Annual Student Art Show celebrates the continuing tradition of art education in the region.
“We believe in the value of art education in our schools,” says Deana Mallory, Director of Public Programming at Bennington Museum. “Access to arts programs improves students’ social and emotional well-being and their academic performance while also engaging them with our shared human history and culture. We want to show our support for these opportunities. Also, our visitors love the Student Art Show,” she continues. “The bright colors and whimsy of the younger artists brings joy while we are all continually impressed by the abilities of the older students. Best of all is seeing the pride on a child’s face when they see their own artwork displayed on the walls of a museum.”
The Student Art Show will be on display in the upstairs Limric and Parmelee Galleries of Bennington Museum from April 1st through May 18th.
From Studio to Streets, Vermont Arts Exchange –
30 Years of Community Engagement through the Arts
Experience the three decade+ journey of the Vermont Arts Exchange (VAE), through a visual exhibition, stories, video, live performance and interactive art making.
Matthew Perry, Executive Director of VAE says, “We are grateful to Bennington Museum for recognizing us and for the opportunity to honor and celebrate the past 30 years of our community arts work. Through this exhibit, we aim to show how art making can inspire and heal, and how being allowed full, creative expression can play a role in one’s future.” He continues, “The exhibit features highlights of VAE’s past projects in the community from the 1994 Paran Creek Project and Halloween Parades to the Basement Music Series. You’ll also be able to engage, make art, and share a memory. And, before you leave you can go work in the Art Bus out in the parking lot and add to the ongoing
