Welch delivered remarks at this year’s Vermont Agricultural Hall of Fame awards ceremony

ESSEX JUNCTION, VT — U.S. Senator Peter Welch (D-Vt.), Member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, today delivered remarks at the Vermont Agricultural Hall of Fame’s awards ceremony to celebrate this year’s inductees and discuss the future of the agricultural industry in Vermont. In his remarks, Senator Welch highlighted how Vermont agriculture is leading the nation in the future of farming and emphasized the importance of supporting the state’s small-scale dairy operations, organic and diversified farms, maple sugarers, farm workers, and others who keep Vermont and the nation’s food system running.

Our working lands provide natural beauty, environmental stewardship, and economic opportunity across the state,” said Senator Welch. “My sincere congratulations to this year’s inductees to Vermont’s Agricultural Hall of Fame—Courtney Banach, Heather Darby, Dr. Ann Hazelrigg, Paul Harlow, and Doug Flack—who have spent their lives making the community and farming better for their families and their communities. We’re incredibly grateful for their tireless dedication and trailblazing work that will ensure Vermont agriculture remains strong for years to come.”
