Vermont Works for Women Bringing Trailblazers Trades Training Program To Manchester
May 18, 2026 – For the first time ever, Vermont Works for Women (VWW) is bringing Trailblazers – their free trades training program for women and gender-expansive individuals ages 18 and up – to Manchester, Vermont. The seven-week trades training program will run from July 21 to September 3 at Burr & Burton Academy.
The state-certified pre-apprenticeship program, which has trained 254 individuals since 2019, provides a safe, non-judgmental environment for participants to build skills, gain confidence, and explore career fields that tend to be male dominated. During the seven-week program, participants get hands-on experience in construction, electrical, renewable energy, and other high-demand trades. Trailblazers is offered at no cost to participants.
In addition to hands-on learning in the shop and classroom, Trailblazers complete a paid, onsite work experience with a local employer. “For some participants, Trailblazers is the first time they’ve ever picked up a power tool, and by the end they’re ready to launch a new career,” says VWW Executive Director Rhoni Basden. “Bringing that experience to Manchester means more women in this area of the state can access careers in the skilled trades.”
Applicants should apply by June 8 at www.vtworksforwomen.org/trailblazers
VWW will be hosting a virtual information session on Wednesday, June 3 at 6:30 p.m.
Businesses and organizations that are interested in partnering with VWW should reach out to Trailblazers Program Manager Robina at rmoyer@vtworksforwomen.org.
