FPR Launches Suite of Outdoor Recreation Grant Programs

Full Program Details and Pre-Application Materials Now Available

Montpelier, VT—The Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation (FPR) is inviting communities, municipalities, and recreation partners to learn about three outdoor recreation grant programs opening this fall. More than $4 million in combined funding is available through the Land and Water Conservation Fund, the Recreational Trails Program, and the Vermont Outdoor Recreation Economic Collaborative (VOREC) Community Grant Program.

Together these programs support projects that expand equitable outdoor access, strengthen recreation infrastructure, and grow local outdoor economies across Vermont.

  • The Land and Water Conservation Fund  supports the construction or rehabilitation of outdoor recreation facilities (such as playgrounds, courts and fields, and municipal parks) and the acquisition of parks and open spaces.
  • The Recreational Trails Program funds the development, maintenance, and restoration of public recreational trails.
  • This round of VOREC Community Grants focuses on project development and promotion efforts that support and grow local economies by leveraging outdoor recreation.

“These grants work together to strengthen outdoor recreation opportunities that are central to Vermont’s quality of life and local economies,” said Claire Polfus, FPR Recreation Program Manager. “Whether funding trails, parks, or marketing projects, communities will be able to match their project to the funding source that works best for them.”

Interested applicants can find full program information online, including award amounts, eligibility, timelines and all other requirements.

To be considered for funding, applicants must submit a pre-application to assess the project’s readiness, eligibility, and potential compliance needs. If the project meets the program eligibility criteria, applicants will be invited to submit a full application. All pre-application deadlines and materials can be found on the FPR grant website.
