Cornerstone Housing Partners Receives $250,000 Housing for Everyone Grant From the TD Charitable Foundation
Grant funding will support resident stability and reduce evictions
Rutland, VT, April 21, 2026 – Housing Trust of Rutland County dba Cornerstone Housing
Partners, was recently awarded a $250,000 Housing for Everyone grant from the TD Charitable
Foundation, the giving arm of TD Bank U.S. Cornerstone Housing Partners is one of 40 nonprofit
organizations across TD’s footprint to receive funding through the 20th annual Housing for
Everyone grant program, which supports solutions that foster early intervention, advance
housing stability and decisively address housing challenges for renters in low- to moderate-
income communities.
Housing instability remains a critical issue for individuals and families nationwide, driven by
rising living costs, financial hardship, and challenges navigating housing systems. In recognition
of the program’s 20th anniversary and its longstanding commitment to housing affordability, the
TD Charitable Foundation awarded $10 million in total grants in 2026, its largest Housing for
Everyone investment to date, to support organizations focused on preventing eviction and
promoting long-term housing stability.
This year’s Housing for Everyone grantees were selected for their proactive approaches to
eviction prevention and housing stabilization, which help individuals and families remain
housed, reduce financial stress, and strengthen communities.
Through this grant, Cornerstone Housing Partners will expand their already successful
Resident Services Program originally created with support from Rutland Regional Medical
Center’s Bowse Health Trust. The program takes a proactive approach to reducing evictions
and ensuring long-term housing stability, offering free comprehensive service navigation,
helping households connect to public benefits, behavioral and health support, financial
assistance resources, and other community services that address root causes of instability. The
program also offers HUD Certified Rental Counseling with free budget support, rental
counseling, and financial literacy education to prevent arrears and strengthen long-term stability.
Through this multi-layered, proactive model—mediation, counseling, service navigation, and
early engagement—the initiative fills critical service gaps, prevents avoidable evictions, and
supports stable housing. This programming is available to Cornerstone’s residents in both
Rutland and Bennington County.
“Cornerstone Housing Partners is honored to be chosen as a recipient of this TD Housing For
Everyone grant. Resident Services programs are one of the most effective tools in eviction
prevention.” said Mary Cohen, CEO of Cornerstone Housing Partners. “By connecting people to
resources, stabilizing households before crises escalate, and addressing the root causes of
housing insecurity, they turn at-risk tenancies into long-term homes.”
“Many renters today are facing compounding challenges, from sudden income loss to difficulty
navigating lease terms that can quickly put their housing at risk,” said Paige Carlson-Heim,
Head of Social Impact at TD and Director of TD Charitable Foundation. “That’s why supporting
the eviction prevention and early intervention work of organizations like Cornerstone Housing
Partners, is so critical. I’m encouraged by how the Housing for Everyone grant will help
Cornerstone provide the timely support renters need to remain stably housed and rooted in their
communities.”
As it celebrates 20 years of collaboration with frontline nonprofits in housing affordability, the TD
Charitable Foundation’s Housing for Everyone grant program highlights TD’s enduring
dedication to building stronger communities through stable, affordable housing. Since its
inception in 2005, the program has invested over $73 million, supporting more than 675
affordable housing projects from Maine to Florida. Discover more about the Housing for
