The Bennington County chapter of the University of Vermont (UVM) Extension Master Gardener program (EMG), in partnership with USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), will offer free soil lead screening at Norman’s Attic on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Chadd Cupit, resource soil scientist, will be on hand to provide screening with specialized equipment. Community members are invited to bring soil samples from vegetable gardens, play areas, or other outdoor spaces where people may come into contact with bare soil.
