4869 Main Street: From the Colburn House to Northshire Bookstore

4869 Main Street was for more than a century the home to the Colburn House which opened in 1872. In 1976 Ed and Barbara Morrow established the Northshire Bookstore on Main Street, but as their business grew, they soon realized they needed a larger space and took the risk of buying the Colburn House to make it into a bookstore in 1985. After a year and a half of renovations, the new Northshire Bookstore opened, and their risky venture has paid the community untold dividends up to the present day.
