SUMMARY:Misty Blues: A Not-So-Silent Night
DESCRIPTION:Join us this December for a holiday show unlike any other\, fea
turing the raw\, soulful sounds of the internationally known Berkshire Cou
nty\, MA blues band Misty Blues.\n\nIf you’re looking for standard carol
s and sweet lullabies\, you’re in the wrong place. Misty Blues is bringi
ng the true spirit of the holidays the only way they know how: packed with
grit\, passion\, and an absolute minimum of traditional holiday music. Ex
pect a high-energy performance of foot-stomping original blues and deep gr
ooves wrapped in seasonal cheer. \n\nCome for the glad tidings\, but stay
for the blues. Don’t miss this special “Pay What You Can” concert.\n
\n2019 International Blues Challenge finalist\, Misty Blues\, is fronted b
y lead singer/band founder Gina Coleman. The band is based out of Berkshir
e County\, Massachusetts playing original and traditional blues with hints
of jazz\, soul\, funk and tent revival gospel since 1999. The band has re
corded with Eric Gales\, Charles Neville and Joe Louis Walker\, and opened
for contemporary blues artists like Mike Zito\, Albert Castiglia\, Tab Be
noit\, James Montgomery\, John Primer\, Roomful Of Blues\, Albert Cummings
and Shemekia Copeland. Misty Blues performs extensively throughout New En
gland and has toured the continental U.S.\, Canada and the UK. The band ha
s been nominated for a few Independent Blues Music Awards and their origin
al recordings have broad international airplay. In 2024 the band had a son
g they released selected for use in a U.S. Presidential campaign ad.\n\nIn
the summer of 1999 Gina Coleman was performing in the Williamstown Theatr
e Festival production of A Raisin In The Sun. That production featured the
acting of Ruben Santiago Hudson\, Viola Davis\, Kimberly Elise and Gloria
Foster. Coleman was cast as a gospel singer. Nearing the end of the show
’s run\, Ruben Santiago Hudson gave Coleman a cd collection entitled Men
Are Like Streetcars. He told her that her voice was perfectly suited for
the blues and urged her to take that next musical direction. Coleman heede
d his advice\, and after a quarter of a century\, Misty Blues has stood th
 e test of time.\n\nLink: https://mclvt.org/stec_event/misty-blues-holiday-
