SUMMARY:Visible Mending- The Darn Weave
DESCRIPTION:As the seasons change\, it is a good time to take a closer look
at the knits we love and get them ready for another winter.\n\nA small ho
le\, a worn elbow\, or a snag does not have to mean the end of a beloved g
arment. In this hands-on visible mending workshop\, you will learn a woven
repair technique that transforms damage into an intentional and beautiful
design detail. Rather than hiding a repair\, we will highlight it\, stren
gthening the fabric while honoring the history of the garment.\n\nYou will
be guided step by step through the fundamentals of this technique in a su
pportive and creative setting. We will explore how to stabilize damaged ar
eas\, build a woven structure\, and choose threads that either blend beaut
ifully with the garment or create a thoughtful contrast.\n\nParticipants a
re invited to bring a knitted garment in need of some care\, such as a swe
ater with small holes\, a well-loved pair of thick socks\, or another trea
sured piece that has been waiting to be repaired. You will have the opport
unity to begin mending your own garment and put your new skills into pract
ice.\n\nThrough the process\, we will consider repair as a form of care an
d a way of extending the life of the clothes we already own. You will leav
e with practical skills\, renewed confidence\, and a fresh perspective on
giving well-loved garments a second life.\n\nNo prior sewing experience is
  needed.\n\n\nAbout the Instructor\n\nSarah is a Vermont-based maker roote
d in craftsmanship\, sustainability\, and care. She studied fashion design
in Germany and began her career in theater\, where she developed a deep r
espect for material\, detail\, and the expressive power of garments.\nHer
work later brought her to a couture studio in Beijing\, where she gained a
deeper appreciation for the time and craftsmanship behind every finished
garment. After moving to the United States\, she founded a sustainable bra
nd creating handmade leather bags and naturally dyed textiles. \nToday\, h
er focus centers on teaching and community building\, seeing mending as bo
th a practical skill and a gesture of love and resistance.\n\nOnline locat
