SUMMARY:GMALL Presents - Hall Art Foundation Private Tour: A Farewell to th
 e Western World
DESCRIPTION:Green Mountain Academy is excited to host a visit to The Hall A
rt Foundation in Reading\, Vermont for a private tour. Converted from a fo
rmer dairy farm\, the Hall Art Foundation’s campus of converted gallerie
 s consists of a 19th-century stone farmhouse\, three barns\, as well as a
reception center and cafe. The property’s 5 historic buildings make up a
pproximately 6\,000 sq. feet of museum-quality exhibition space. The farmh
ouse and barns sit next to a waterfall on a tributary of the Black River\,
and are surrounded by approximately 400 acres of pastures\, hayfields and
extensive woodland. Outdoor sculptures by world-renowned artists are inst
alled throughout the grounds. Exhibitions are held seasonally\, from May t
hrough November. On view this year is a group show titled A Farewell to th
e Western World. Borrowing its title from a painting by the acclaimed Roma
nian artist Adrian Ghenie\, A Farewell to the Western World gathers approx
imately 70 artworks in painting\, drawing\, sculpture and photography that
depict imagery suggestive of global shifts and an irreverence towards sys
tems of established order. By tracing patterns of conflict\, power\, and s
ociopolitical upheaval that have concerned artists globally\, A Farewell t
o the Western World attempts to condemn and lay bare the causes and effect
s of authoritarian regimes\, racism and political violence throughout hist
ory\, prompting a look at our present day and a warning against history re
peating itself.\n \nAll guests have access to the Cafe Lex where refreshme
 nts including sandwiches\, salads\, baked goods\, snacks\, bottled beverag
es\, wine and coffee are available for purchase.\n \nThe Hall Art Foundati
