SUMMARY:Musikgarten: Playing Outdoors
DESCRIPTION:This 10-week program is open to drop-in attendance\; however\, 
 it is recommended that you attend all ten weeks\, as each session builds u
 pon the last.\n\nSouthern Vermont Musikgarten instructor Evan Leontis offe
 rs caregivers the opportunity to play with their babies and young children
  in a musical setting\, engaging in music and movement activities designed
  to delight the child and awaken his or her curiosity about music. By sing
 ing\, dancing\, bouncing\, rocking\, and playing instruments\, the child
 ’s musical aptitude is being carefully nurtured\, laying the foundation 
 for beat awareness\, vocal production\, and aural discrimination. All chil
 dren are born with an aptitude for music\, but research shows that their a
 ptitude diminishes if it is not nurtured. The best way to nurture a child
 ’s musical aptitude is through active music-making. By singing and danci
 ng for and with our children in a variety of tonalities\, meters\, and sty
 les\, we help our children reach their full musical potential.\n\nThis sum
 mer’s Musikgarten theme is “Playing Outdoors”.\n\nNote: Class will n
 ot be held on Monday\, July 6.
