Educational Access Programs

GNAT-TV works schools throughout the Greater Northshire area, teaching video production to the students and providing educational content for GNAT-TV.  Below are some examples of our educational access work:

  • Video Production Service Learning with high school students at Burr and Burton Academy.  This past semester (Spring 2010) GNAT-TV assisted Burr and Burton Drama teacher Jim Raposa in teaching the Advanced Video Class. Eight students, who had been under the tutelage of the late Brian Gawlick, worked with Mr. Raposa’s drama students churning out short dramatic screenplays, public service announcements, and other video pieces.  GNAT-TV is hoping to continue its relationship with BBA this Fall and will be working with the new video instructor, Bill Muensch.
  • Afterschool TV Club with 5th and 6th graders from Sunderland Elementary School
  •
  • Roaring Tiger News Show with 5th and 6th graders from Flood Brook Union School
  •
  • Documentary about the Interim Studies Spring Musical with 7th and 8th graders from Manchester Elementary Middle School
  •
  • Summer Camp at GNAT-TV’s station with 5th and 6th graders from various schools around the community
  • BBA service learning interns, Joe Walner and Kory Kingsley worked on “The Black Fly Lounge” and the Gubernatorial Interviews.
