Community Star Award

The Community Star Award is given each year to a volunteer who tirelessly produces community television programming.  The award recipient is chosen by GNAT-TV's Executive Director, Garret McCarey.

Tara Shannon receives GNAT-TV's 2010 "Community Star Award"

Tara Shannon who has been producing the Collaborative’s monthly series “Prevention Works” was presented the 2010 Community Star Award by Executive Director Garrett McCarey.

Salley Gibney receives GNAT-TV’s 2009 "Community Star" Award

Salley Gibney, producer and host of "Good News in the Shires" received the "Community Star" award from GNAT-TV's Executive Director Garrett McCarey. "Salley produces a program that reflects our community values," noted McCarey, "She has been so inclusive which is reflected by the diversity of her guests." “Good News from the Shires” has been airing bi-weekly on GNAT-TV’s Channel 15.

Salley's program will be taking a hiatus while she works on her Foundation business, including visiting Bangladesh in the Spring of 2010. She created the "You Are Never Alone" Foundation which gifts wooden coins to those in need and, most recently, to Troops being deployed overseas.

2008 Community Star Award Receipient: Bruce Frauman

Bruce Frauman, a long time volunteer producer/videographer was presented the Community Star Award at Greater Northshire Access Television’s Annual Meeting March 18th.  Bruce began his association with GNAT-TV by videotaping authors at the Northshire Bookstore and is presently producing “Prevention Works!” an anti-substance abuse series for the Collaborative.(Seen at 8 am and pm on channel 16) Along the way Bruce has learned videography and non-linear editing. “GNAT-TV would not survive without the many volunteers needed to produce these programs” noted McCarey. “Bruce is a prime example of those giving their time for their community.” GNAT-TV is the non-profit Access Management Organiztion (AMO) serving the Northshire, Londonderry and Weston.
